Hailing from the vibrant borough of the Bronx, Kevin Shabazz is a distinguished alumnus of Norfolk State University, a prestigious Historically Black College and University (HBCU), where he embarked on his journey into the world of Entrepreneurial Studies, ultimately earning a Bachelor's Degree that would serve as a springboard for his remarkable career.

In 2016, Kevin embarked on a mission to transform communities and uplift lives by founding Greene Developers, a Certified Minority Business Enterprise (MBE). Under his astute leadership, Greene Developers has become an industry pioneer, specializing in the creation of energy-efficient affordable housing with an unwavering commitment to sustainability. Kevin's deep-rooted passion for revitalizing communities led him to establish the New Leadership Academy (NLA) in the same year, a 501c3 community development organization.

As the President of NLA, Kevin Shabazz is a beacon of hope for marginalized and disenfranchised communities. He tirelessly collaborates with professional leaders and organizations to bring about transformative change. His dedication extends to the promotion of sustainability, the provision of affordable housing solutions, and the delivery of crucial financial and food education services.

Kevin's personal experience, growing up in low-income housing buildings, exposed him to the harsh realities of peeling paint and inadequate ventilation, leaving an indelible mark on his mission. This firsthand knowledge fuels his unwavering commitment to making sustainability and affordable housing a reality for all. Kevin goes above and beyond his role, personally coordinating all educational seminars, and selflessly dedicating his time and expertise for the betterment of the communities he serves, without seeking compensation.

William Davis Jr. - Secretary

William is a distinguished luminary in the field of leadership and community engagement and has held the esteemed position of Secretary at the New Leadership Academy since 2016. By day, he is a seasoned project manager at the prestigious Anheuser Busch, where he consistently demonstrates his remarkable skills and strategic acumen.

A product of the venerable Norfolk State University, William Davis boasts a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology, complemented by a minor in Psychiatry. With an impressive tenure spanning over 15 years in various managerial roles across manufacturing, real estate, and project management, William is a trusted repository of multifaceted expertise. His journey has been marked by the cultivation of impeccable interpersonal skills, establishing him as an effective collaborator capable of bridging gaps within diverse, multigenerational workforces.

William's professional repertoire is a treasure trove of core competencies, encompassing strategic planning, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) initiatives, board development, and the art of nonprofit management. His remarkable aptitude extends further, for he is a skilled trainer and facilitator adept at navigating the intricate landscape of nonprofit organizations.

Outside the confines of the corporate world, William stands as an active and devoted leader in his community. His service extends to his local church, where he has held roles as a young group leader and trustee. Additionally, he lends his expertise to the community business development board, further solidifying his commitment to community growth and prosperity.

Donte Dunkley - Director

Licensed in two states, NC & SC, Donte is also a credit repair specialist, helping aspiring home buyers become qualified to purchase a home. A powerhouse speaker and businessman, Donte has led and hosted numerous business conferences. Donte has a well-established background as an independent business owner and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from West Virginia University. Donte also has several years of customer service experience where he was consistently awarded world-class rankings. These fields have allowed Donte to apply strong expertise in strategic planning and conduct a wide range of quality services for his clients.

In his spare time, Donte enjoys meeting up with friends, traveling, and spending time with his family. He is well-known for his love of dogs and is an avid sports enthusiast. He and his wife are currently serving the community as active members of Elevation Church. Shacara is a dedicated professional with a Masters's degree in Counseling Education, driven by a profound passion for helping others. Over an illustrious career spanning 15 years, she has worn multiple hats, including IT associate, Property Manager, Helpdesk Supervisor, CUNY First Coordinator, Relationship Counselor, and School of Nursing Counselor, to name a few.

Shacara's innate talent for listening and inspiring shines through in her interactions with family, friends, and clients, always encouraging them to reach for greater heights. Her professional journey has been deeply intertwined with Relationship Counseling, where she continuously refines her craft.

Shacara's vision revolves around utilizing her wealth of professional experience to serve her community. Beyond her professional pursuits, she finds joy in participating in various cooking classes, constantly expanding her culinary repertoire. Her unwavering commitment to her craft, coupled with the love and support of her family, remains a driving force in her life.

Jamillah Shabazz - Director

Jamilllah is a driving force behind community transformation. She began her journey by mentoring troubled youth in the Group Homes such as The Children's Village of Dobbs Ferry, New York City, and has since taken on a pivotal role on the board of the New Leadership Academy (NLA). Jamillah's commitment to making a difference in people's lives was also highly effective during her time at St. Mary's Rehabilitation For Children, crafting a permanent mark with everyone who crossed her path.

As a key board member of NLA, a prominent 501(c)3 organization, Jamillah's commitment is evident in collectively working to foster self-sufficiency and growth within communities, as she continues on her path of leaving a long-lasting imprint of positive transformation as she did throughout her time working at White Plains Hospital.

Jamillah's leadership, dedication to empowerment, and commitment to her community are the hallmarks of her legacy. The distinguishing characteristics of her impact emerged during her tenure as a board member of the Greyston Foundation which provided shelter for homeless individuals in Yonkers, New York. Through her role at NLA, she inspires and facilitates transformation, leading to tangible, perpetual impacts with change and growth within individuals and communities alike.

Hanan Lancaster - Treasurer

Hanan is a dynamic board member at New Leadership Academy (NLA) and holds an MBA in Business Strategy from Notre Dame, complemented by her undergraduate business degree from Howard University. With this strong educational foundation, she's a dedicated force for change within NLA, a 501(c)3 nonprofit committed to empowering marginalized communities.

Hanan brings a wealth of experience in economic development and community revitalization to NLA's mission. Her illustrious career includes the successful leadership of a 314-unit mixed-income housing development in a challenging DC area. She's been recognized for her transformative community revitalization efforts and her ability to generate over $500,000 in funding for critical services. Now, she's part of NLA's journey to expand its impact. 

Her track record of driving positive community change, combined with her business acumen, makes Hanan an invaluable asset on NLA's board. She envisions sustainable transformation and is unwavering in her commitment to helping individuals become productive members of society. With Hanan's expertise, NLA continues to be a beacon of hope and opportunity for underserved communities.
